Camelbeach Mountain Waterpark
*Disclosure - We were invited to enjoy a day Camelbeach Mountain Waterpark. Accommodations for one night were provided at Chateau Resort & Conference Center. We were provided with park tickets, a cabana, and lunch. Alcohol & gratuities not included. All opinions are my own.We went to visit Camelbeach Mountain Waterpark in The Poconos (PA) right before school let out for the summer. It's only about an hour from us here in Madison... but it's another one of those places that we just never went. Honestly... I don't know that I actually knew it existed. I know about Camelback Mountain Resort (but haven't ever skied there). But a waterpark in the Poconos? How impressive could it be?
Well, now that we've been there... I feel ridiculous for ever wondering how impressive it could be. We had such an awesome time. The mountains were gorgeous. The weather was gorgeous. And... Camelbeach was ridiculously amazing.
We drove up to Tannersville, PA on a Saturday in the late afternoon. It took us about an hour to get from home to our hotel, the Chateau Resort & Conference Center. The hotel was in a great location (right at the base of the Camelback Mountain). We had an amazing view and could even almost see some of the waterpark through the trees. I forget sometimes how much I loved the mountains! The hotel and staff were really nice. On our arrival they gave us a little itinerary of all they had going on during the weekend (including a singing in the restaurant/bar that evening, and a picnic/bbq by the pool... in addition to a couple of private events). I could have looked at the view out of our balcony all day long.
After checking in, we cleaned up a bit and then headed out for dinner at desaki. (Check out my full review of the Japanese restaurant).. When we came back to the hotel we made a quick stop in the hotel lounge and got the girls some milk and ourselves a beer & wine. We were able to hear the singer for a little bit, and I have to comment on what a nice voice he had. He was singing mostly/all mo-town... and you couldn't help but smile when he sang. I wouldn't have minded sitting and listening for a while longer... but we needed to get to bed to prepare for our next full day.
After getting a really good nights sleep at the Chateau Resort we had breakfast in the hotel's Mountainview Restaurant. They have a breakfast buffet as well as a full menu... and a full wall of windows to enjoy the view of the mountains. After breakfast we headed off for a day of fun at Camelbeach!

After checking in at guest services they showed us over to our cabana in the children's area, Pharaoh's Phortress. It was PERFECT. It gave shade whenever we needed it. A table & 2 chairs, 2 full lounge chairs, and 2 lower beach chairs. The way the Pharaoh's Phortress is set up, we were actually able to sit and relax in our cabana while the kids played to their hearts' content in the water. There was only 1 way in and out of the area so we could keep an eye on the girls... and there were a number of lifeguards around to keep watch. The cabanas at Camelbeach also include fruit in the morning and a dessert tray (cookies & brownies) in the afternoon, as well as wait service with a pool menu and bar (let me just say the Camelbeach Rum Punch had me feeling very tropical in the mountains!). I don't think I'll ever go to a water park again without trying to get a cabana. The kids had a blast. The adults had a blast. I was also thrilled that we went slightly before full summer season... all of those chairs in the photo are usually filled up!
After spending a good amount of time in the kids' area we ventured out into the rest of the park. I didn't get many pictures (since, ya know, water). They have over 37 "rides, slides, and attractions" and we tried just about all of them. My favorite things may have been the lazy river and the ski lift. How amazing is that view from the ski lift??? I was able to get a photo of the entire waterpark and our hotel (right in the center above the park). The park really covers all ages... so there were things that kept Ana and Zoe both happy (and Nick and I had an awful lot of fun too!). I wish I had more of my own photos to share. You can check out some other slide and ride photos on the Camelbeach site.
We left the waterpark just in time to run over to the CBK Mountain Adventures area. We didn't have time for too much... but we just HAD to get on the Mountain Coaster.
CBK Mountain Adventures at Camelback Mountain Resort invites you to experience a race down the slopes like never before, on our Mountain Coaster, a 4500’ long, steel-track that traverses through the trees and down the steep slopes of Camelback! Our Mountain Coaster is one of the premier things to do in PA that you won’t want to miss! These mountain memories are moments that you and your family will cherish for a lifetime.
SO MUCH FUN!!!
Zoe has made us promise to go back again as soon as she weighs 75 pounds. She was DYING to do the Tandem Zip Flyer all the way down the mountain. I totally would have done it with my little daredevil... but she was too light (and not happy about it). So, I can tell you we'll be heading back to Camelbeach again in about 7 pounds. Or... we'll just go back next June with the promise of going AGAIN at the 75 pounds mark. :) I can tell you I want to make sure to check out the new hotel and indoor waterpark that are being added to Camelbeach for Spring 2015.
If you're planning a visit to Camelbeach Mountain Waterpark make sure you check out their website and the Chateau Resort website. It looks like they've got some great deals (and even a giveaway) you won't want to miss before your visit.
