Day at Sea - Cruise Day 3
Tuesday 2/26/08
This was our first "day at sea"... a whole day spent on the ship. We enjoyed sleeping in (until about 8:30 when Zoe woke up) and then having a leisurely breakfast. After breakfast we took Zoe to camp for a little while and I believe we spent a little time in the casino (because that's what we did when she was in camp... see the shows and lose money).
We picked Zoe up for lunch. I believe it was the day they had a pirate theme and Zoe came out to us with her face painted and a skull and crossbone (temporary) tattoo... but I could be wrong. I have no picture. Oh well.
After lunch we went for a swim. The water was a little chilly (since it was fresh ocean water!)... but that didn't stop Zoe, so I had no choice but to join her. Zoe was a little fish in the pool. She got one mouthful of salt water and then was more careful.
We met a little girl, Kayla, while swimming. When Kayla announced that she was going to the kiddie pool Zoe decided that's what we were doing, too. (Even though she flat out refused that pool when I tried to go there first... haha).
Again, she had made a fast friend and enjoyed her time.
Oh, and we had some ice cream.
Before going on the cruise I had to get a pedicure (you just can't have unpolished toes on a cruise). As soon as Zoe saw the polish she was obsessed with my "pretty toes" and wanted her to be pretty too. So, I went with it. We headed to the spa and Zoe had her very first "pedicure". (Hey Grammy... pretty toes were all Zoe's idea... guess it just runs in the family.)
Zoe picked her polish color all by herself. I have to say... I'm glad she went with the hot pink and stayed away from the blue and green that were available. So, what do you think? Pretty toes? (I've decided I'll enter this picture of Zoe's pretty toes in a "Photo for Lauren" contest. I hope Lauren likes it. Can any girl really resist pretty pink toes and a Dora bandaid?)
After Zoe's toes had a chance to dry we headed back to the room for our snooze. Nick and I both joined Zoe in her daily snoozes. I'd say that was a little pathetic... except it felt so lovely to take a cat nap in the middle of the day.
We set our wake up call for 4:30 and had just enough time to shower and get ready for dinner. We left dinner completely full every night. I'll say it wasn't the very best cruise food I've ever had... but it was much better than anything we would cook at home.
After dinner we left the dining room to be greeted by a showgirl all decked out in her feathers. Unlike the pirate, Zoe just loved the showgirl. She ran right over to her and gave her a big hug. I'm not sure what Zoe's squishy cheek is about in this photo... but what a memory. Zoe hugging and squeezing the showgirl like they were the best of friends.
Once again Zoe was happy to go to camp. After dinner each night she even began announcing "I go play with kids now! Let's go!" One night Nick told her that maybe he would go play with the kids too. Oh, the look she gave him. She very sternly told him "No, you don't play with kids! I play with kids! You stay here! I go by myself! I play with kids now!". I think we can say she enjoyed Camp Carnival. And again... we enjoyed the show and the casino. And I also discovered the lovely coffee bar where I could get an iced latte with coconut syrup. Yum.
I believe this was also the day I decided we just NEEDED to play BINGO before the show. Every night before the show they played one game. (I could be wrong... it could've been the next night.) I just really felt like we should play BINGO. My mother will tell you that I hate BINGO, even though I'm happy to go play when we go visit my Nanny. She goes a few nights every week and tends to do very well. So, I'll go when I visit. And I always say I hate it (because I NEVER win). Anyway... I just really felt like we should play. And you know what? We won. Capital Letter T. Upside down on the last board. WE WON! $600!!! Can you believe that? WooHoo! Yippee! $600!!!! (Don't be too excited for us though. I think we lost that much in the casino during the week. At least. Yikes.)
We picked up Zoe at 10pm and headed to our room to find a new towel creature. This time it was definitely a bunny. Zoe enjoyed it much more knowing what it was.
It was quite a successful day at sea.
