Florida - Day Six

Friday, February 8th, 2008

Zoe and I spent most of this day driving to visit with my friend Amanda and her family. Amanda and her husband Korey have a son, Gabriel, who is about 6 weeks younger than Zoe. (Amanda is also due to have another baby boy about 6 weeks before we're due with our baby girl.) They happened to be in Orlando for the same week we were. We hadn't been together in about 6 years. Usually we are NJ - NC far apart... so since we were only 45 minutes away from each other we had to at least get together for a short time.

It was really great to have a little time to see each other and to catch up in person. Zoe and Gabriel really had a wonderful time together. It's too bad we don't live closer... I think the 2 of them would be good friends.

They did a great job taking turns at the playground.

Gabriel was very nice and shared his popcorn with Zoe.

That made her pretty happy.

Before leaving, the two of them had a little fun pretending to be two little monkeys jumping on the bed.

It was nice to spend some time together... but they were headed out to Magic Kingdom, and we had a little drive to get back to Grammy and PopPop's house. Our little ride (which took about 45 minutes on the way there) turned into a LONG ride on the way back. There was some type of car accident that we never even saw before we got to our exit... and it took us into rush hour traffic. I think the drive ended up taking almost 2 1/2 hours. The only blessing was that Zoe fell asleep in the car.

When we finally made it back to Grammy and PopPop's house we went out for dinner at Red Lobster. We have done dinner for my birthday there for as long as I can remember... so they took us out for an early celebration (my birthday isn't actually until the 25th!).

Zoe enjoyed testing out my crab legs. After gnawing on the crunchy leg for a little bit she kind of gave me a look like "why is it you're eating these things?" and went back to her macaroni and cheese.

Again, my Zoe... not afraid of any creature. She was perfectly happy to shake hands with a lobster on the way out the door.
That's my crazy girl.
